Fall Fever Part 2| Salem and Last Minute Dollar Tree Decor

Happy Halloween to you all!!! I’ve been taking a little break from blogging but in the meantime, I made sure to try and get into the Halloween Spirit in the process. That and of course celebrating my 27th Birthday in Salem! November or not, I’ll be doing a post on that speaking of the whole experience there. It was amazing. Check out the lil’ grid I did lol. If you want you can check out my instagram @WomanOfAllWomen to get a look-see at some of these up–close. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Fawziyya’s 27th Birthday- Salem, Massachusetts

Yes, that is Allison’s house and Max Dennison’s house from Hocus Pocus! I made sure that was on my list out there lol.

Once we came back and settled back into reality, I got back on my halloween decor and DIY projects. Unfortunately I got caught up with adulting so these were last minute crafts. Hopefully it can be useful to you today. Most of these purchases were made at Dollar Tree so it was on budget as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

DIY Sour Jar Halloween Voodoo Decor – Dollar Tree

So the plan was to do a Voodoo theme because I wanted to be a Voodoo Priestess for Halloween. I guess I still can but I’m not really doing anything other than watching rasslin’ (wrestling) with my sister and boyfriend. We’re throwing our own party lol. Since I was procrastinating and getting caught up, I figured Id see what I had around the house and some creepy props that would work well in a sour jar. I was very careful about how I did decor. I didn’t want to cause anything since this is the day where the veil is the thinnest and we’re not trying to start anything over here. I wanted to keep it classroom playful lol.

I took jars and layered eyeballs, spiders, bats and skull rings. I then added fake twigs to look like creepy roots. Because I did not feel like digging up the lids to these mason jars, I took old candle lids and taped it, then I added the black mesh because its supposed to be dark or covered and wrapped the twine for more character? lol. I’m not sure, but It takes no more than 10 minutes to do. Id recommend putting creepy bugs and glow in the dark objects then covering the jar with something more opaque. It will give it a more mysterious look although I can’t really say if that’s a sour jar but it’ll look cool for decor! I have an “altar” outside on my balcony where it stays and the other is in a lantern in front of our door. It def added to the look and since I didn’t go all out this year, it was a nice alternative. Stay tuned for more posts on what else I did this year. It may be a great last minute alternative for a Halloween celebration or a good idea for next year. You can never plan for a Holiday too soon in my opinion. ๐Ÿ˜€

The other thing we purchased was a cauldron for the trick or treater’s (Us too) candy this year. I got it at Dollar Tree because last year I couldn’t find one ANYWHERE. I was so annoyed lol so I scooped this one but then saw better looking ones for less than 5 dollars at other places like CVS or Walmart. That’s okay though, it does the job. So here is what I did to make it a little more interesting and it only cost me $2.

DIY Cauldron Candy Bowl with Skeleton Hand – Dollar Tree $2

I purchased a skeleton hand at dollar tree as well. I already have a glue gun and glue sticks which you will need ( all for $5-$6 at Walmart or $2 at Dollar Tree) so I glued the bottom, flat part of the hand (where the wrist would be) and pressed it down. I held there for about 5-10 seconds and then I slowly took these two little pumpkins and placed them inside the cauldron on either side of the hand to support it. I left it like that for hours because I had other things to do but you can leave it for 10-15 mins to be safe. Id recommend gluing around the outside of where the wrist meets the cauldron so the candy doesn’t knock it over. I’ll update with more pictures soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hopefully this helped get you into the Halloween Spirit and gave you some last minute ideas. This is cool for decor, props for your Youtube channel or just as props for pictures. Glue guns add texture too if you want to add a vine-ish like texture to anything or veins, draw it out with your glue gun on the object then paint over it for a seamless finish.

It was also fun to just do these crafts even if it was quick. I miss the childhood 90’s feel of Halloween so I will be blasting Ghost Busters and Thriller for the rest of the day lol

Stay safe and have a Happy Halloween!

With Love,
